The Recoil 780 ES shaft, and the lighter weight Recoil 760 ES are a welcome addition to the UST Mamiya line of iron shafts. While these are not "just released" shafts, they are making a spot in our bags for players desiring a little more stability and slightly lower ball flight than the original Recoil 660/680 shafts.

SmacWrap Material
While graphite shafts are typically very shock absorbing to begin with, the use of newer, denser pre-preg material(the stuff the shafts are made of) sometimes makes the shaft feel a little harsh. So UST Mamiya introduced the SmacWrap material in the core of these shafts to provide even more dampening affect. In our opinion, it works!
Available Options
As with a lot of newly designed iron shafts, the weight pretty much designates the flex. So, the Recoil 760 ES SW starts at 68 grams in a A or Senior men's flex and progresses to the Recoil 780 ES SW Stiff flex at 87 grams. These are raw weights in 41" parallel tip shafts so the playing weight will be several grams less depending upon length. Since these are parallel tip shafts, it is easier to tip trim these shafts to get to a variety of playing stiffnesses. For example, the Recoil 760 ES can be used for junior and lady golfers as well (think soft stepping in a taper or Constant Weight version).
Ion Plating and Matte Finishes
The popular ion plating (IP) finish is shown in our picture but a new matte black finish is now available.
So if you are looking for a nice lightweight graphite shaft with a mid to mid-high launch that feels a bit more stable in your hands, the Recoil 760/780 ES SW will fit the bill!
