ACCRA FX 2.0 Series Shaft Review

When I started to write this ACCRA FX 2.0 Series shaft review, it took me back to why we first started working with ACCRA Golf years ago (won't tell you how many!).  Gavin and the team at ACCRA Golf came up with a concept called DyMatch.  This means shafts are dynamically matched in terms of launch profile and shaft weights for all clubs in your bag, i.e. driver, fairway, hybrid, irons and wedges.  The new FX 2.0 Series shafts is just another iteration on this dynamically matched theme with better materials and finer tuned profiles.

Shafts should have matching profiles

When we do our fittings, we make very specific recommendations in terms of shaft profile, i.e. high launch, medium launch, low launch, etc.  Our fitting recommendations from BGF or the TrueFitClubs Fitting Wizard make specific recommendations for each club in your bag from driver through irons and wedges.  These recommendations will be for shaft length, shaft weight, shaft flex, swing weight and shaft trajectory (launch) and shaft spin.. This follows exactly what is meant to happen when you pick an ACCRA FX 2.0 Series shaft.

The FX 2.0 Series has three different models, all with distinct launch profiles:

  • FX 2.0 100 - High Launch
  • FX 2.0 200 - Mid Launch
  • FX 2.0 300 - Low Launch

The reason this works well for a custom club fitter and builder is that we can stay within the ACCRA FX 2.0 line and be assured that the shaft profiles will be consistent with in each line, i.e. FX 2.0 100, (High Launch) for driver, fairway, and hybrid shafts.  The last thing you want is to have a high launching driver shaft matched with a low launching hybrid shaft shaft.

Our Test Results

When we put shafts through our shaft profiling system, we validate from a measurement perspective how these shafts SHOULD perform.  We than have our testers and customers validate what the measurements say should happen.  Here is what we have round so far:

Model Trajectory Spin Torque Quality
FX 2.0 100
   Driver Mid-Hgh Mid-High Mid-High *****
   Fairway High High High *****
   Hybrid High High High *****
FX 2.0 200
Driver Mid Mid Mid High *****
   Fairway Mid-Low Mid-Low Mid High *****
Hybrid Mid Mid Mid High *****
FX 2.0 300
   Driver Low Low Mid *****
   Fairway Low-Mid Low-Mid Mid *****
   Hybrid Low-Mid Low-Mid Mid *****

The only surprises in our testing were in the light weight 100 series, i.e 140 and 150 that seemed a little too stiff in the tip section which means they launched a little lower than we expected.  We really like the way the torque (feel factor) gets higher in the lighter weight shafts in all lines.  And, the best thing about these shafts is that they are incredibly high quality, i.e. above 95% in our 7 point quality test.

Bottom line is that the FX 2.0 Series shafts from ACCRA Golf carry on a long tradition of quality and dynamic matching of driver, fairway and hybrid shafts with new materials that have dramatically improved quality.

So if you want the same performance in your driver, fairway woods and hybrids, you cannot go wrong with the ACCRA FX 2.0 Series shafts!
