Comment on Measuring Golf Swing Dynamics by admin

Thank you for your comments. Yes, acceleration during the swing can be used as a transition measure. If you accelerate rapidly at the top of your swing, you have a fast transition. We tested several golfers on the GEARS Golf system a couple of years ago and the acceleration profiles helped a lot in explaining tempo, transition and release (measured by grip rotation). Club speed in our current implementation is reverse engineered from distance using a standard smash factor for irons and woods. Club speed is used to calculate initial shaft flex but is modified by tempo, transition, release and a couple of other factors. Probably the biggest reason you do not have success with senior flex shafts is that they do not really test out as senior flex but more like ladies or even junior flex. We see that across the board from all OEM's that put senior flex shafts in irons, especially light weight (55 or 65gr) shafts.
